Why did you choose to support Katharine House Hospice with your fundraising?

Katharine House Hospice is a charity close to many families within our Hanwell family – the amazing hospice does such a wonderful job for our community. It’s also a great way to help our pupils understand first-hand about charity and how we can help others in need.

Tell us a bit about your event or activity

We have held several events for the Accumulator Challenge from ‘Break the rules day’ and ‘Hanwell’s Got Talent’ to my favourite event by far, a 24-hour sporting challenge where pupils, parents and our local community joined forces to take part in non-stop sports from 7.30am on Friday to 7.30am on Saturday. Just a few of the sporting challenges that we enjoyed included gymnastics, HIIT, keep fit, Irish Dancing, Netball and even 5km walks in the middle of the night.

A group of primary school children and staff grouped together holding sports equipment and a sign that says 'We're taking part in the Accumulator Challenge'.

What tips would you pass onto other fundraisers? What worked well for you?

Dream big – and don’t be afraid of not doing everything on your list – there is always next years challenge!

How much did you raise?

Our grand total came to £4,301.

We’re incredibly proud of how our school and community joined together and rallied behind this fundraising effort. This challenge wasn’t just about sport – it was about teamwork, compassion, and supporting a charity that means so much to so many.” Rececca Lister, Communities Hub Co-ordinator

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

What a joy it is to support such a wonderful charity. One of the highlights is to meet one of your Community Ambassadors at our events and share stories of how our efforts help the hospice. Sarah was a true inspiration when she came to see us not once but twice at our 24hr challenge. Thank you for your support.
