Donating items to our shops

Read about what items we’re accepting at the Katharine House Hospice shops and on what days.

Donating your quality unwanted items to our shops is a great way to help us raise money so we can carry on looking after people in our community.

Your donations to our shops raise over ÂŁ250,000 every year for the hospice. Thank you for your support.

What you can donate

We’re looking for the following items:

  • Clothing
  • Bric-a-brac
  • Linens
  • CDs and DVDs
  • Books

If you have something a bit different to donate, which isn’t listed above, please feel free to contact your local shop and they’ll be happy to help.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept electrical items or any furniture.

Donation days

We accept donations between 10am and 3.30pm on the following days.

  • Banbury (Bridge Street): Mon–Sat
  • Banbury (Hillview Crescent): Mon–Fri
  • Bicester: Mon–Sat
  • Brackley: Mon–Sat. We regret that we’re unable to take large donations of CDs and DVDs.
  • Chipping Norton: Mon–Sat
  • Moreton-in-Marsh: Tue–Sat
  • Shipston-on-Stour: Mon–Sat

To avoid disappointment

  • Please call ahead to make sure we have the space available.
  • Storage space is limited in each shop, so although we’ve given a window of 10am–3.30pm for donations, when we’re full we’re full.
  • We will then unfortunately have to refuse any donations on the grounds of health and safety.
  • So please call ahead first, or drop off your donations earlier in the day.

For full opening times and contact details, see our shops page.

Retail Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you could help us even more by giving us your details to enable us to claim Retail Gift Aid.

Please share your name, address and email address with any of our shop managers or a volunteer when you’re next dropping off a donation. As with cash donations, any item that you donate to a shop that is then sold means we can claim 25% of the retail price.

Each three months we will email you to confirm how much your donations have sold for so that you can add this to your tax return, just as you would for any other Gift Aid declaration.

eBay shop

Remember that we also have an eBay shop too, which stocks many items of clothing, toys and other delights.
