One donation, twice the impact this December

Local hospice, Katharine House, is hoping to double its donations this December after signing up to the Big Give Christmas Challenge for the second year running.

1 December 2025

As part of the Big Give Christmas challenge, every pound donated to Katharine House Hospice via the Big Give website between 2 and 9 December will be doubled, thanks to a matched funding commitment from generous donors.

With costs continuing to rise, Katharine House, like many hospices, is struggling to raise the money it needs. It now costs more than £5.9m per year to run every element of the hospice. After the success of last year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge, they are hoping the Christmas spirit will encourage people to take part this year and help reach their campaign target of £40,000.

Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Katharine House, Stephanie Lawless, said, “Katharine House provides specialist, compassionate palliative care to people in your community, 365 days a year. We want to ask you to please offer your support for the Big Give this year.

“During the Christmas period, our teams go above and beyond to make the hospice feel special for our patients and their visitors. Sometimes we organise an earlier Christmas celebration for a patient. Christmas is a special time for so many, and we do whatever we can to help people to make special memories with their loved ones.

“As a local hospice, we will always need the support of you, our local community. Please help us to raise as much money as possible to support our incredible teams who look after our patients 24 hours a day over the Christmas period and beyond.”

The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from 2 to 9 December 2025 and donations can be made online.
