Visiting times at Katharine House Hospice

We always welcome visitors to Katharine House Hospice.

If you have a relative or friend staying in the Inpatient Unit, we operate a flexible visiting policy. Visitors are welcome at any time, although on occasion you may be asked by staff to leave the patient’s bedside.

The Garden Cafe

We know that our visitors sometimes need a break, so please feel free to pop down to the Garden Cafe for cofee, cake or a light bite to eat.

  • Opening hours: 8.30am–3.45pm, Monday–Friday.

The hospice gardens

Katharine House Hospice has the most beautiful garden, which is open to patients and their familiy and friends at all times. Designed by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall in memory of Simon Weatherby and lovingly maintained by our gardener volunteers, you are free to wander around it and enjoy beautiful views from various benches scattered around the garden. You can access the gardens directly from the Inpatient Unit or walk around the outside of the hospice building.

What makes Katharine House special?“It’s beautiful gardens. The gardens are stunning; they’re part of the whole experience. And the fact that they are looked after by volunteers is incredible. Mum was a brilliant gardener, so she loved the gardens. They even got the bed outside for her so she could enjoy them more.”
