Allan Love: king of adrenalin-fuelled challenges
During the summer of 2025, Allan decided to take on not one, nor two, but three of the Katharine House Hospice challenge events. Read on to find out why!

Why did you choose to support Katharine House Hospice with your fundraising?Â
I chose to support Katharine House Hospice because I’ve seen first-hand the incredible care and support they provide. My Mum, my Father-in-Law and a close friend of my wife have all passed away after their own battles with terminal cancer. Katharine House was there for them, and for us, every step of the way. Supporting them is my way of giving back to a charity that has meant so much to my family.
Tell us a bit about your event or activity
In 2025, I decided to take on not one, but three adrenaline-fuelled charity challenges to raise funds for Katharine House Hospice. I started with the Extreme Abseil Challenge in April, descending 127 metres down the National Lift Tower in Northampton. In June, I took on the Wingwalking Challenge, strapped to the top of a plane flying at 1,000 feet.
And in September, I completed a Skydive from 13,000 feet, free-falling through the clouds at 120mph. Each challenge pushed me out of my comfort zone and was done in honour of those close to me and the amazing work of Katharine House.

“That was awesome, please can I do it again!” Allan Love
What tips would you pass onto other fundraisers? What worked well for you?Â
- Give yourself a decent donation when you first set up your JustGiving page, it helps attract larger donations from others.
- Share your story. People connect with personal reasons behind your fundraising.
- Use social media. Regular updates on LinkedIn helped me keep supporters engaged and excited.
- Thank your supporters. Acknowledging every donation and message of support goes a long way.

How much did you raise?Â
Just over £2,000, which I’m happy with as it exceeded my target.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?Â
This journey has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Each challenge was a personal test of courage, but knowing I was doing it for Katharine House made every moment worth it. I’m proud to have raised awareness and funds for such a vital local charity.
