Celebrating 18 years with Jacobs Douwe Egberts
JDE Peet’s and Katharine House Hospice have had a long-standing relationship, with JDE supporting the hospice as a charity partner for an incredible 18 years.
Since our records began, JDE has donated a whopping £62,288 to Katharine House Hospice through employee fundraising, sponsorship and company donations.
This figure includes the fundraising undertaken by the JDE interns as part of the JDE Student Charity at the Banbury and Maidenhead sites. The largest one-off donation was made in March 2022, when JDE donated an incredible £11,000 to celebrate 14 years of support.
Raising vital funds through sponsorship & fundraising
Over the years, JDE has sponsored various activities and campaigns, including our Moonlight Walk and Santa Fun Run and they were the official sponsors for our Care for a Cuppa campaign when the hospice relaunched the campaign in 2023.

As well as supporting our events through sponsorship, the staff have taken part in various fundraising activities. The team have raised funds through marathons, Wolf Runs and held various fundraising events on site, including Family Days, raffles, sweepstakes and cake sales, plus more recently the very successful sale of coffee stock to employees, raising an incredible £8,700 in just under a year!
JDE has also had a very strong intern programme, with the trainees leading many of the fundraising activities as part of their apprenticeship, across the Banbury and Maidenhead sites.
The JDE employees have always had a big presence at Katharine House flagship events, including our Moonlight Walk and Santa Fun Run. In 2022, a team of 20 JDE Santa’s descended on Spiceball Park and raised over £1,000 for the hospice.

Coffee galore
Jacobs Douwe Egberts has provided the hospice with coffee for many years, ensuring that our patients, their loved ones and visitors are able to have a lovely cup of tea or coffee when needed. The catering team calculated that JDE saved the hospice £10,500 each year through providing coffee and tea as a gift in kind.
The business has also provided extra hot drinks for events we hold, such as our Moonlight Walk and Open Gardens. Through providing the hospice with these generous gifts inkind, we save thousands of pounds each year, meaning that these funds can be used for core costs supporting our patients and their loved ones.
“We are incredibly proud of the commitment our Banbury associates have shown in supporting our long-standing partnership with Katharine House Hospice. Through fundraising and volunteering, they have helped the hospice provide compassionate care to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Their dedication reflects a genuine connection to the local community and exemplifies our commitment to leaving a lasting legacy.” – Dyfrig Davies, Plant Manager, JDE Banbury
Volunteer heroes
The associates at JDE have been an integral part of our volunteer programme. They have been the most committed corporate partner to support the hospice through volunteering, turning their hands to any project we throw at them. The team have provided hours of support over the years to support our volunteer team and fundraising staff at events.
The staff at JDE have been regulars in our hospice garden, supporting our garden volunteers with their weekly tasks. They have also helped to clean up our patio area and garages, keeping the hospice clean and helping our events team work in a tidy and safe environment.

JDE team members have also help set up at our flagship events, reducing our staff time and helping to keep our costs down. They have also put forward a number of teams to take part in Store Wars, in which they volunteer in our six hospice shops and battle it out to see which shops takes the most profit on that day.
More recently, during one of the hottest weeks of the year, a team of four volunteered and painted the ceiling in our library. Despite the hot weather, the team were happy to crack on and get the job done, a true testament to their commitment to the hospice.
We have always welcomed the JDE team to volunteer at the hospice and appreciate their time and support.

A true partnership
The team at Katharine House are truly grateful for all the support that JDE and the staff have provided to the hospice over our incredible 18-year partnership. They are a wonderful team to work with; kind, warm, committed and generous. With the Banbury site closing in 2026, we want to wish all the staff, past and present, the very best for the future and thank them for their overwhelming support.
