Hope’s Mini London Marathon
After receiving a place through Bishop Loveday School, 11-year-old Hope Robinson decided she wanted to use the opportunity to raise money for Katharine House Hospice while taking part in the TCS Mini London Marathon.
Name: Hope Robinson
Event: TCS Mini London Marathon 2026
Venue: London
Amount raised: £875
Why did you choose to support Katharine House Hospice with your fundraising?
Hope chose to support Katharine House after hearing more about the support the hospice provides through conversations at school around bereavement. A number of her classmates had lost family members who had been cared for by Katharine House in recent years.
Hope’s mum, Maddie, also has a personal connection after her grandfather received care from Katharine House. Together, Hope and Maddie have previously taken part in the Santa Fun Run in his memory.
Hope and her brother have fundraised for charities before, but conversations at school around bereavement made them more aware of the importance of supporting local charities like Katharine House Hospice.
Tell us a bit about your event or activity
Hope took part in the TCS Mini London Marathon on Saturday 25 April 2026 after securing one of 25 places allocated to Bishop Loveday School through a ballot.
The one-mile route took runners through St James’s Park, starting at Horse Guards Parade, passing Buckingham Palace and finishing on The Mall — the same iconic finish line used for the London Marathon the following day.

What tips would you pass onto other fundraisers?
Although Hope had decided early on that she wanted to fundraise, her GoFundMe page was only set up a few days before the event, which her mum, Maddie, felt helped create a sense of urgency around donations.
She also found that sharing regular updates on social media helped build momentum and encouraged donations, including countdown posts, updates from the start line and tracking Hope’s progress during the race.
“There was lots of interest when we shared Hope’s fundraising on LinkedIn and people really enjoyed following her journey throughout the event,” said Maddie.
“The run was tough but also really exciting and knowing I was doing it for such an important cause kept me going. I’m so thankful to everyone who encouraged me and donated.” – Hope
How much did you raise?
Hope originally hoped to raise £50 but ended up raising an incredible £875 for Katharine House Hospice.
After the event, Hope received a certificate from Katharine House Hospice which she proudly took into school for show and tell alongside her medal.
