We’re inviting local teams to take on ‘It’s a Knockout’

Community groups, businesses and friends across Oxfordshire are being called upon to step up, dress up and sign up for an unforgettable day of laughter and fundraising at It’s a Knockout on Saturday 27 June.

19 May 2026

Packed with giant inflatables, outrageous costumes and high-energy games, It’s a Knockout at the Bloxham Steam and Country Fair promises a thrilling three-hour competition where teams of 6 – 10 people will battle it out across eight larger-than-life challenges designed to bring fun, chaos and plenty of team spirit.

Entry costs £600 per team – a contribution that could fund Katharine House Hospice’s bereavement support team for four days, helping provide vital care to families coping with the loss of a loved one.

One local business already leading the charge is CMS Wealth Ltd, independent financial advisors, who have a proud history of supporting the hospice. Over the years, the team has raised an impressive £14,304 through a variety of challenges including a wing walk, fire walk, Snowdon climb, Santa Fun Run, Moonlight Walk and even an ultra-marathon.

This year, they’re back with a buzz – quite literally. Competing under the team name “Queen Bee and the Hives”, the group features Jade Bates, Neil O’Connell, Joe Morris, Ryan Carter, Jake Relton and Simon Hall. Jade will take centre stage dressed as the “Queen Bee,” while her teammates will don worker bee costumes.

The team has already raised over £300 towards their £1,000 target, demonstrating the enthusiasm and community spirit the event inspires.

“We’re really excited to be part of It’s a Knockout this year. It’s such a fun way to support an incredible local charity, and we’re looking forward to bringing some energy, creating a buzz and raising vital funds!” – A spokesperson for CMS Wealth Ltd

We need your team's support

Katharine House Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families. It costs more than £5.9 million each year to run its services – equivalent to £16,261 every single day. While some funding comes from the government, two-thirds must be raised through community support.

Roseann Thompson, Community Engagement Manager at Katharine House Hospice explained, “With demand for services growing and fundraising becoming increasingly challenging, events like It’s a Knockout are more important than ever. We would welcome more local teams to sign up and be part of such a fun experience that promises laughter, teamwork and a meaningful impact.”
