Installation of remembrance roses returns for fourth year

Families are being given the chance to be a part of a special remembrance event, with the return of Katharine House Hospice’s Rose to Remember event this June.

Katharine House Hospice’s special remembrance event, Rose to Remember, will return this June.

The charity will be once again hosting the event in the hospice grounds, offering people the chance to honour the life of someone special by purchasing a hand-crafted metal rose in their memory, this year in a shade of purple. Since it began in 2023, the event has raised £43,927.

This year, a total of 600 roses will form part of a temporary installation at the hospice from Tuesday 9 June to Sunday 21 June, with families invited to see the display at special viewings on Saturday 13 June or Thursday 18 June.

Oxfordshire resident, David, and his family attended the event last year and bought a rose in memory of his wife, Louise, who died at the hospice in March 2025. He said, “It was very good to have a specific event to dedicate time to our memories of Louise, particularly as life started to get in the way of this and get back to normal again. As well as being the place where Louise was so well cared for, it is also a wonderful setting to come to, with the beautiful gardens and facilities. So peaceful.”

Sally Brooks, Individual Giving & Philanthropy Manager at Katharine House Hospice, said: “This event has become an important part of our annual calendar and a way to support people with their grief, whether they have a link to the hospice or not. Rose to Remember is a special way to honour the life of someone you love while supporting the vital work of Katharine House Hospice. Each beautifully hand-crafted rose is not only a lasting tribute but also a meaningful way to help us continue providing specialist care to adults, and their families, facing life-limiting illnesses.”

This year’s event is kindly sponsored by Brackley-based Resource Chemicals, a family-owned independent chemical distributor.
