How did you get into your role and come to work for Katharine House?

I wasn’t actively looking for a new role but I follow Katharine House on Facebook and spotted the Voluntary Services Coordinator vacancy. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I decided to apply and I’m so glad I did.

What’s a typical day like?

No two days are ever the same. I spend my time responding to enquiries, supporting our wonderful volunteers, managing rotas, meeting potential new volunteers and coordinating recruitment and training. It’s a varied role and I love helping people find the opportunity that’s right for them.

How does it feel to work for the hospice?

I honestly feel so proud to be part of this very special place. I work alongside the most amazing people and it feels like one big family. Everyone is so passionate about what they do and making a difference.

What makes Katharine House so special?

Every detail is carefully considered to ensure patients and their families receive the highest quality, most compassionate care and support. Everyone works together to make incredibly difficult times the best they can be.

Now for some quick-fire questions...

If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go to: Thailand, for the scenery, culture and, of course, the food!

My favourite dessert is: Very hard to choose but probably rhubarb crumble with ice cream or a giant bar of Cadbury Whole Nut chocolate.

People are often surprised when I tell them: I went on holiday to Cyprus and came home having adopted a cat!

My favourite way to unwind is: Gardening and sitting in the garden on a lovely summer’s day.

My favourite thing to eat is: Curry! I don’t have a favourite type – I just love a good curry.

My favourite season is: Summer, although I can see the beauty in every season.

If I was stranded on a desert island, I would want: A huge supply of chocolate and a good book.

If I had one superpower, it would be: To go back in time so I could see the people I’ve lost and relive some of my favourite memories with family and friends.
