Minnie’s Snowdon Sunrise Challenge

After Minnie’s mum received care at Katharine House Hospice, Minnie and her daughter Sophie took on the Snowdon Sunrise Challenge in her memory, raising more than £2,000 to support the hospice.

Why did you choose to support Katharine House Hospice with your fundraising?

My mum was at Katharine House for the last weeks of her life. The care and compassion that they showed all of us was truly amazing and we are forever grateful for them.

Tell us a bit about your event or activity

Sophie, my daughter, and I joined the Snowdon Sunrise Challenge in September 2024. We also have a rose to remember every year since my mum passed away. So we walked as part of a group to the top of Snowdon, starting in the dark and the sun came up as we reached the top. Climbing Snowdon in the dark was a real challenge but so rewarding to reach the top and the feeling that we completed it was a real buzz.

What tips would you pass onto other fundraisers?

The team at Katharine House gave us lots of support and advice. They are always on hand to offer support. We found that using JustGiving was the best way to get sponsorship for our challenge.

How much did you raise?

Sophie and I raised just over £2,000 for the Snowdon walk. We had a £250 target each, so we did really well.

“Climbing Snowdon to raise money for Katharine House was an incredible experience. The support team were wonderful. It was a real challenge but one that left us buzzing and completing it with my daughter was a very special tribute to my darling mum who passed away the year before.”

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

We have done all sorts of fundraising for Katharine House. We always have a rose to remember each year since my mum passed away, and we also take part in the tractor run. The tractor run is an incredible event and the crowds that come out to watch are out of this world. It really is a magical event and to be part of it is a real honour. We secured sponsors for all our tractors helping raise extra funds for the hospice.
