Join our very first Katharine House Hospice overseas trek!
This trek takes you to a remote section of the Great Wall of China, from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai. Not only will you trek on the wall itself, but you will also have the opportunity to trek through wild and remote landscapes with distant views of green rolling hills, mountain peaks and with one of the great wonders of the world as the backdrop.
A moderate to challenging trip for someone of a good general level of fitness. The Great Wall is built on rolling hills and some sections have hundreds of thousands of stairs, some of which have begun to crumble and are more like steep gravel slopes.
Each day you can expect to walk for 5-8 hours on various types of terrain.

Why your support matters
In total, it costs more than £5.9m per year to run every element of Katharine House Hospice. This equates to £16,261 per day.
Roughly speaking, Katharine House receives funding from the government to cover around a third of these costs so our fundraising and retail teams have to raise the other two-thirds.
Fundraising is particularly difficult now, and we are doing everything we can to raise more funds so that we can ensure that our special hospice is here now, tomorrow and in years to come, for you and your loved ones.

Lorna is taking on the Great Wall of China Trek in memory of her dad, who died in 2019 from prostate cancer. “The hospice meant a lot to him, and it means a lot to us as a family.”
